Marathi (Traditional Beekeeping)
Naming, logo design, visual identity system, and packaging series for MARÁTHI honey products
Founded by Maria Drakaki and Iosif Vasiliou, maráthi is rooted in Marathi, Paros — a region world-renowned for its ancient marble quarries. Guided by respect for local biodiversity and traditional Cycladic apiculture, the brand focuses on small-batch harvesting of exceptional honey derived from the island’s native flora.
A cohesive visual identity was developed to bridge authentic craft with the island’s cultural heritage. Inspired by the carved marble reliefs of Parian folklore, the logo marries Cycladic reduction with a refined, contemporary typographic language.
At the core of the packaging design lies the illustration of traditional clay hives — historically known in local beekeeping heritage as “ΑΓΓΕΙΑ” (ANGEIA). Product differentiation is driven by a color-coded system set within a central circular form, framed by a stippled graphic pattern that abstractly captures the movement and flight path of a bee swarm. Tactile, textured papers paired with an earthy palette elevate the organic quality of the packaging, striking a balanced note between artisanal authenticity and contemporary premium design.
