Fluid World (Photography Exhibition)
Visual identity design for the solo photography exhibition of Vasso Chatzigiannaki, presented and curated by Bleach Kollektiv
An exhibition of alternative darkroom techniques influenced by surrealism. Techniques that are both controlled and unexpected, deliberate and surprising, but above all “handcrafted.” These specific techniques are taught and applied in the three-month seminar “Alternative Darkroom Techniques,” which forms the final stage of “Black-and-White Analog Photography,” the complete educational cycle of Bleach Kollektiv.
Exploring the boundaries of photography and the possibilities offered by the medium itself, Vasso Chatzigiannaki employs alternative printing techniques to create a series of surreal portraits that blur reality. The depicted face transforms in such a way that the final image reflects the very processes occurring in the darkroom. The reciprocal relationship developed between the subject and the printing process invites the viewer to observe the image more carefully, in order to trace the path from the original shot to the final result. The series proposes a different kind of interpretation, unfolding across multiple levels—transcending the limitations of representational imagery, transforming the familiar into the unknown, and simultaneously creating a magical world in which the viewer is given the opportunity to reconsider their own perceptions of truth and illusion.
